Only July 8, 1908 a North Texas businessman received notice that oil had been discovered on his land several hours away. Despite reading the newspaper and enjoying a cup of coffee he quickly found himself in the back of a car being driven to see the bubbling crude in person. Now 115 years and five generations later Rives Oil maintains a legacy built on ambition and a little bit of luck.
